Setanta School was originally founded in 1965 by the HSE and was called St Loman’s Special School located next to St Loman’s Hospital. In 1990 the school moved to Blanchardstown and became James Connolly Special School and the primary function of school was to cater for those on the ASD spectrum. ln 1995 the school moved again and became Setanta School. The number of students which Setanta has been able to accommodate has grown substantially along with staff numbers. Currently 15 teachers and 41 Special Needs Assistants and the Principal, cater for 66 students.
In March 2020 Setanta School relocated to Greenhills, Dublin 12 to facilitate the building of new schools on the site in Stillorgan and are sharing a school building in Greenhills with Riverview Educate Together Primary School until the new build is completed.
